Personal Projects:
soEmo.co.uk - Emo Community Scene
soEmo.co.uk is an Emo Community that has been developed (using PHP, MySQL, XHTML, CSS) from scratch, and continually improved due to an on-going passion for the substantial technical challenge and the emo scene.
Users can join the community, create their own profile (with the ability to upload pictures) and interact with other members through comments, friends requests, etc. A search function is available to find other users by country, town and distance from a UK Postcode. All users have their own secure account page to edit profiles, upload/delete pictures, delete comments and friends, and numerous other features.
In addition, members can participate in the emo forums and chat room.
As well as the community aspect of soEmo.co.uk, useful and extensive content on the emo scene is present including:
- What is Emo?
- Emo Music (inc. ability to add to an emo lyrics and bands database)
- Emo Fashion / Look
- Emo Lifestyle / Culture
Any visitor to the site can leave their own opinions on this content.
The site is performing well with over 9000 members. See the News section here for updates or the one on soEmo.co.uk
Ludlow Radio Car Club (LRCC)
Developing a Web site for Ludlow Radio Car Club, which I used to attend has provided a lot of satisfaction. The link above is the latest version of the site completed in May 2006. However, the site was first created in 2003 before attending university. This old site looked a bit amaturish and was in need of a major update following all the skills learnt on my degree. The site is still active.
Creating a site for the club was originally suggested because it would be beneficial for the current members as well as prospective ones. After a couple of months many of the members had accessed the site and used it to obtain regularly updated information such as league tables. The site took a considerable amount of time and effort and wasn't paid work. However, knowing that the site was actually useful for the club felt like a great achievement.
A basic admin system was added in late 2008 for editing content and handling gallery images.
Club Arosa
Due to a passion for cars a Web site was created in late 2003 for owners and potential owners of the car I had at the time - Seat Arosa. The aim was for it to become a base for all Arosa enthusiasts to share their experiences and be part of an expanding community.
Numerous emails were recieved from owners all around the world asking technical questions, commenting on the site and submitting their cars to be displayed on the site. The site was created because it was clear that it could become relatively successful as there were no other decent sites dedicated to the relatively small number of Arosa enthusiasts at the time.
Again this site is in need of a re-design, which was started. However it wasn't completed or uploaded and the site is no longer active.
